Why Choose a Consultant to Help You?

Some Useful Links

The answer lies in the question. To help you. Because of the complexity of Immigration Law the making of an application has reached the stage where few people can make an application that will be successful.

Gilton Business Consultants has been helping people to make applications since 1982 and is well versed in the provision of timely and accurate advice and assistance to those people considering moving to Australia, whether on a permanent or temporary basis. Gilton has also a fine record of assisting international corporations in relocating their business to Australia or establishing a branch office in Australia.

Gilton is one of the smallest immigration consultancies in Australia but has the advantage of all cases being reviewed by the Principal. It has an envied success record for its clients. All cases lodged in the previous Business Migration Program were approved.

John Gillespie is a Justice of the Peace, Fellow of the Migration Institute of Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Administrative Law, the Chartered Management Institute (UK), Australian Institute of Management and St James Ethics Centre.

He works on the basis of the provision of realistic advice. Cases which have no chance of success are not accepted. Because of the nature of Migration Law, no guarantee of success can be given. Where a chance of failure is identified, this is fully discussed with the client prior to lodging an application.

Visa Classes

Australia has a non-discriminatory global migration policy. The numbers wishing to migrate to Australia far exceeds the annual visa allocation. Most applicants are required to have skills which will contribute to Australia 's growth. They are also required to have English language skills. All applicants must meet Australia's health and character requirements. Some of the visa categories are:

Permanent
  • Family Migration. This includes spouses, fiances, children, parents and preferential family members. It is not subject to a "Points Test."

  • Skilled Migration. This includes Employer Nominations, Distinguished Talent and Business Skills (Business Owners). Applications in the Independent and Skilled Australian sponsored categories are subject to a "Points Test". In the Business Skills category successful applicants are initially granted a provisional visa for 4 years and after establishing their business they can apply for a permanent visa.

  • Humanitarian Migration. This includes refugees, special humanitarian program, special assistance program and onshore protection visa classes. Onshore protection visas are usually temporary visas and are reviewed at regular intervals.

  • Applications to Remain Permanently in Australia. There are a limited number of visa categories where an application can be made whilst the applicant is in Australia.

Temporary
  • Long Stay Business Visa. These allow a stay of up to 4 years with permission to work for an Australian company. The approved occupations are given in the Commonwealth Gazette as is the required salary. The sponsor must be approved before nominations will be approved.

  • Retirement Visa. These allow applicants over the age of 55 years who are self funding to stay in Australia, initially for 4 years and subsequently for 2 year periods. Visa holders are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week.

  • Working Holiday Visas. These allow a stay of up to 1 year for citizens of approved countries. They permit work for up to 6 months for any one employer. They are restricted to those aged between 18 and 30 years and are single or married without children. Those who work in the harvest industry in Regional Australia for 3 months or more are eligible for a stay of a further year.

  • Student Visas. These visas allow study in Australia. Australian academic qualifications are well recognised worldwide. The current visa classes and assessment levels are given in the FAQ section of this website. From 1 July 2003 students who gain an Australian qualification after attendance at an Australian educational establishment may be eligible to apply for a permanent residence visa without work experience subject to qualifying in the "Points Test."
